Replying to myself, but actually would like to ask about the dual fresnel or higher magnification, as a solution to increase the transmission captured by the camera. I had not seen that in other ideas/ projects, and most used a simpler fresnel lens.

One Frensel lens would be sufficient to condense enough rays towards the observer to eliminate the vignetting seen on the screen as long as its focal length is short enough - viewfinders of many cameras employ one. In Matt's case it may not be possible to manufacture/source a single imaging-grade Fresnel lens that is both large enough (fast enough) and of the required focal length to suit his rig.

Many thanks! I now see the additional posts. Really kin observations and great illustrations. It's quite mysterious, meaning I don't understand what's going on enough to feel confident about saying anything. One main thought was, to what a extent a system like this could accommodate other FLs. Would it be able to focus different FLs?

The rig is too large and uses a a strange lens. I am sure there will be adaptations or concepts based on this. I though the project and video are so good. It's really superb.
