What changed from Olympus to OMDS?
5

Just some food for thought and speculative discussion

In Olympus days, I would say they were all over the place, targeting everyone from wedding, portraits to wildlife, marketing their cameras as small and lightweight alternatives to CaNikon DSLR (old 43 days) and later FF MLs, but still trying to compete in same territory

Now with OMDS it looks much more focused and trying to play to format’s strengths viz telephoto, ruggedness, geared towards outdoorsy and adventurous type photographers. OMDS have gone to an extent where they seem to have cancelled many if not all brand ambassadors who were not aligning with this outdoorsy or doing lifestyle/people/wedding photography. This included dropping many internet famous ambassadors (Robin Wong). Whether the strategy results in success or not is a different story, at least they seem to be focused and trying to create their own niche.

I wonder if same folks were running the Olympus division earlier, why they couldn’t figure this out in their Olympus days.
