So far I found, the focus point is only displayed for out of camera files, jpeg and ORF.

The information for the focus is stored in the makernotes, here made visible with ExiftoolGui:

Some software removes these Makernotes, however DxO does not remove them.
But the focuspoint in DxO generated images is not displayed by OWS.

If another program has modified the file it is probably not displayed regardless wether it was cropped or not.

There is also an item "AFSearch". I do not know it exactly, but I think if release priority was used this field is possibly not "Ready" and then it is probably not displayed.
Also if MF was used it is not displayed.
(You can use Backbutton focus with MF)
