Re: Opinions on AMD Graphics over Nvidia for Linux

I have an older Nvidia card, GTX 1050 Ti, that I can install with. I might try that but upgrade to something else later. My understanding is that Nvidia is now providing better support for Wayland, and even making some parts of their drivers open source, so maybe moving to AMD won't benefit me much on the desktop. I would not have seriously considered AMD for a Linux system if I had not run into problems with the 5.18 kernel on my laptop.

In addition to Linux, my home computer environment includes Windows 11 (dedicated system for photo and video editing) as well as base models of the M1 Mac Mini and M1 MacBook Air. I still prefer Linux for day-to-day computing.
