Opinions on AMD Graphics over Nvidia for Linux

I ran into a problem with a recent Linux kernel update (5.18) that resulted in not being able to boot a laptop that has Nvidia Optimus graphics using either Pop!_OS 22.04 or Fedora 36. I solved the problem by forcing the laptop to boot the 5.17 kernel, but I am wondering if an upcoming Linux desktop build would be better with an AMD graphics card instead of my usual choice, Nvidia.

Comments I have read over the last couple of years seem to point to AMD graphics as a more reliable solution for Linux, and the experience I just had with the laptop is driving me to question if I should move away from Nvidia for my next build.

I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance!
