M6 II autofocus just bad/outdated or do I expect to much?

I'm not really sure if my camera has a defect or if it is the lens, yes the EF-M 55-200mm is definitely worse with the physical shutter.

I get a lot (maybe 25-35%, this is about taking photos of people who are moving) of AF misses where focus is just somewhere in the back or front of what the camera was aiming for (even with facedetect). Sometimes in backlit situations it even goes for the background instead of the subject or if the AF spot is right on the edge it does not seem to be sure what to aim for.

Maybe its me and I can't really apply 5D Mark IV or R5 standards? Those always seemed to be spot on in what ever conditions I used them.

But I think I can remember from my 20D and 5D Mark II times that I got home and had a similar experience as I have now with my M6 II: That a big portion of the photos I thought might be great are just not really in focus.

Maybe I should just do what I did back then, take more shots to compensate for the missed ones. A practice that I have stopped around the 5D Mark III and later as those just mostly did a perfect job (getting better with IV and R5).
