Hello, I'm now considering getting an X-E camera as my daily camera for photos only (not video). I need some suggestions about picking X-E3 or X-E4 in 2022.
First, it has been years after X-E3 has been released. Is it still good to get X-E3 over X-E4 for the price (see the following section) and the similar/close performance? I have read several posts about X-E4 being considered as a downgrade for certain people. And compared to the upgrade by Sony, it seems that the improvement is incremental for me as well.
Second, price. Since I have two Sony cameras as my prime set, I'm not expected to spend too much on this one. Actually, I considered getting X100V before. But it was too expensive (>$1200) right now. For X-E, I can get X-E3 with 23f2 for $760, or X-E3 with 18-55 2.8-4 for $800, or X-E4 for $749, or X-E4 with 27f2.8 for $949. All these three lens have both positive and negative reviews. Compared to Sony EF users, it seems that Fujifilm users have more varied preferences and it is what makes me hesitant to select one. I mainly use 28mm and 35mm lens in Sony. So both 23f2 and 27f2.8 seem to be good for me. The only drawback of 23f2 is that the lens is longer to fit in the bag compared to the lens on X100V. So even after getting 23f2, I may sell/trade it for the smaller lens for the daily carry. (Please correct me if 23f2 is not big as my expectation!)
In the end, what's your opinion/suggestion? Thanks a lot!
What Sonys? What are your Sonys not doing for you ? Why not an a6xxx series and use your existing stuff.
I have A7II set for photos and ZV1 for video now. But I sometimes feel that A7 with lens is a little bit heavy/big for me to carray every day. Even my shortest/lightest Zessis 25F2 lens is still heavier/longer than the heaviest XF18-55 of those three listed lenses.
The Fujis you are considering (as well as current Sony APS-C options) will all at least match or, in most areas, exceed the capabilities of the old A7II, including high ISO performance. It’s full frame, but its sensor was old-tech even when it was new.
Yes. Instead of upgrading to the newer A7(M4), I'd prefer to get one lightweight camera first so that I can really carry it daily.

We're Noct messing around with this review.
Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom impress in a lot of ways, but their noise reduction lags the competition and their lens corrections lack a real-world basis. DxO PureRAW 3 aims to come to their rescue without totally reinventing your workflow!
The Sony ZV-E1 is the company's latest vlogging-focused camera: a full-frame mirrorless camera based the FX3/a7S III sensor, aimed at YouTubers and 'creators' looking to go pro.
The Sony ZV-E1 is a full frame camera targeting YouTubers. Chris and Jordan are Youtubers, what do they think?
Holy Stone produces dozens of low-cost drone models aimed at consumers. We look at the HS710 and HS175D to see if they stack up to other sub-250g offerings. Are these secretly great or more like toys?
Above $2500 cameras tend to become increasingly specialized, making it difficult to select a 'best' option. We case our eye over the options costing more than $2500 but less than $4000, to find the best all-rounder.
There are a lot of photo/video cameras that have found a role as B-cameras on professional film productions or even A-cameras for amateur and independent productions. We've combed through the options and selected our two favorite cameras in this class.
What’s the best camera for around $2000? These capable cameras should be solid and well-built, have both the speed and focus to capture fast action and offer professional-level image quality. In this buying guide we’ve rounded up all the current interchangeable lens cameras costing around $2000 and recommended the best.
Family moments are precious and sometimes you want to capture that time spent with loved ones or friends in better quality than your phone can manage. We've selected a group of cameras that are easy to keep with you, and that can adapt to take photos wherever and whenever something memorable happens.
What's the best camera for shooting sports and action? Fast continuous shooting, reliable autofocus and great battery life are just three of the most important factors. In this buying guide we've rounded-up several great cameras for shooting sports and action, and recommended the best.
