Microsoft is dependent on third-party beta testing.

HP should be testing that their supported scanners still function with an update. They should be reporting issues before an update is released. If there is a known workaround then HP should be making that available.

Ok.

However, not shure what HP is supposed to do / or even could do if a MS update is causing the connection between scanner and computer not to work until you un-install the scanner and then re-install the SAME (old) DRIVERS again?

And the same problem has also been reported by Canon users and Epson users!!

If you were a peripheral maker then you would be committed to customer support. You would be actively testing the updates to all supported operating systems as part of the DEV build testing. If you found any issues then you would report them to the manufacturer of the OS. You would actively work with that manufacturer to resolve issues. If it wasn't possible to resolve the issue then you would attempt to provide a workaround. And you would make that workaround easily findable by people who needed it.

It really shouldn't be down to end users to put much effort into resolving problems.

I haven't looked, are current models also affected? (Have HP, Canon, Epson... been made aware of an issue with their drivers and have fixed it with the later versions?)
