If you can find an Arca Swiss 6x9 reflex finder, you could probably use that and ditch the dark cloth. The image will be right side up.

Thanks Jim, that is a great idea. By the looks of a quick search, I might be lucky to find the exact Arca Swiss reflex finder at a reasonable price, and for sure the right side up aspect of the reflex has great appeal. However the idea branches out for me in a bunch of similar directions that look worthy of a bit of exploration. Hoodman loupe etc etc

Cheers.

Michael,

I don't know if this will be of value to you but I'll offer it anyway. For my stitching back (the home made one) I needed a screen to compose with so I created that on my laser cutter. Very simple design and easy to make. You may not have a laser cutter but you can provide the source files to an online company and have it made pretty inexpensively. I used plywood for the body and frosted acrylic for the focusing screen. It's not as bright or fine as a real focus screen but still works quite well.

It's all press fit so no screws or fasteners. I made this one oversize and etched a composition box inside.

If it is of interest I can share the design files with you. Or even better, there I'll give you a link to the site that generates the svg files parametrically. I generated the base design using an online tool and then made my modifications with Ink Scape. You can do it all with a 3D CAD tool but it's really overkill. 2D files are easier to feed to a laser cutter.

You can easily design most of it with this online tool

Once you have the svg files there should be an online provider that can cut the pieces for you. I'm not recommending this site, just giving an example.

Or there may be a makerspace somewhere not to far from you that can do it. I know you're not close to the big city...

I don't have my laser cutter anymore or I would be happy to do it for you.

Jones
