I didn’t “disparage” the EF-M lenses, I only said there is a limited selection of them. Canon clearly has no intentions of ever releasing another EF-M lens, it’s been over 4 years since the last new EF-M. As excellent as they may be, the selection is still limited and will never get larger. RF is clearly the future for Canon, despite the popularity of the M50 in Japan and the rest of Asia. The EOS M series will not be discontinued until there is a replacement for the M50 in the EOS R line, and the R10 is not it.
I’m not too worried about it, as the M line will continue to be serviceable for years to come. I still see nothing on the horizon that is going to deter me from buying an M50 Mk II body and EF-M 22 mm f/2 STM for about $850 total. For what that combination can do, there is nothing else on the market that is similar to it for anywhere near that price, except maybe a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 V (min equiv. 24 mm f/1.8, but smaller sensor), which costs substantially more at $999, and above that, the Fuji X100V (23 mm f/2), at $1399.
It’s just a camera, I’m not slagging off your wife or your kids. People get their identities so caught up in these consumer products. Take a deep breath.

the deep breath should be you before making these definitive statements

  • "If Canon made any "mistake" with the M line, it was with the M mount, in the first place."

yeah, right, up to 30% of their business is M - huge mistake

  • "Canon is attempting to close an unfortunate chapter in their history, has shifted back to 54 mm lenses with the RF mount, is now producing APS-C cameras in the R line, and will in short order discontinue the M line because it simply does not make economic sense to continue to make three different lens mounts."

yeah right, if that happens, we'll be left without an m32 f1.4, m11-22, m22, m28, siggy 16 f1.4, siggy 56 f1.4, etc

you make it sound "simple" and "definitive" and "soon"

small rules and they don't even have a small camera yet nor have access to these great lenses

  • The R line cannot replace the M line...yet. But it soon will.

"soon" ?  The memo we got is that Canon says M belongs.

"How soon?"
