Problems with M50 Mark II + Godox TT350C + HSS + TTL

Hi,

I am using a Godox TT350C flash on a M50ii. When using the flash on-camera with HSS (1/250 second or faster) and TTL, the flash fires but always at maximum power.

I have verified this by shooting in manual mode. For example, using f/5.6, 1/250, and ISO 1600, setting the flash manually to HSS and 1/16 power gave me a good exposure. However, when I switched to TTL, I got a blown-out exposure. Switching back to manual and increasing the power gradually, I matched the blown-out TTL exposure with 1/1 power.

In the following situations, the exposure seems to be fine:

  • TTL on-camera on the M50ii with normal sync (1/200 second or slower).
  • Manual on-camera on the M50ii with HSS.
  • TTL off-camera with both normal sync and HSS with the TT350C acting as a slave to a Godox XProC master on the M50ii.
  • TTL on-camera with both normal sync and HSS on a Canon T6 (1300D) DSLR.

The problem seems to be specific to having the TT350C on-camera on the M50ii and using both TTL and HSS.

Both components appear to have up-to-date firmware, 1.7 for the TT350C and 1.0.3 for the M50ii

Does anyone else see this behavior with their M bodies? Thanks.

Regards,

Alan

P.S. This is not a huge loss. HSS power is so weak on the TT350C that it's not really that useful.
