The point is that you have to notice that something is wrong in order to enable that feature. If the banding is subtle or affecting only a portion of the image you might not detect it until your review the images and then it's too late. Also, the lighting is usually dynamic during show like that and you might get the issue with some of the light but not the others. It also might happen that the flicker-free shutter speed will be different for different lights so you would have to switch between them on the fly.

AND ?

Don't be so negative.

Do or Don't do.
Don't just whine and complain like a Millenial when you won't even try to use the tools that have been provided.

Of course you could just buy an "etch a sketch" or shoot film.

I'm not sure why you're being so offensive.

The circumstances during the shoot didn't allow me to thoroughly check for the possibility of banding on some of the photos (it's on a few photos, not all of them) nor did I notice the flickering in the viewfinder when shooting enough to dial in flicker reduction manually (the feature added with firmware 2.1).

At this point, when confronted with banding on some of my photos, it's about how to deal with it in post processing...

That’s the norm here on the Nikon Z forum. According to some, the only thing one is allowed to do is genuflect before everything Nikon. Just look at how much flaming there was towards the guy who posted a positive review of the 800 PF lens and dared to include some less than supremely sharp images in his post. And you somewhat concurrently post a picture that had banding on it? Oh my word, the sky is falling! Lol

If you want to understand why it is the way it is, I’ll offer up my hypothesis. Z mount users have received near constant criticism for years not only from Canon and Sony users, but F mount Nikon users as well, at least until recently. So many have become extremely defensive when anyone posts anything remotely critical of Z mount products. There also seem to be at least a handful of threads popping up each week where people lay fault with their Nikon product in the title only to later find out they had unknowingly caused the issue themselves by changing some setting here or there. So there’s that as well.
