Re: Canon M6 II with kits lens or Body only + buy a lens?

I just recently bought an M6II with EVF. I already had the 18-150 lens. That combination is generally pretty nice.

Something you might want to consider though. I have had three other cameras with detachable EVFs. A Sony and and two Olympus. All three EVFs stopped working after about 3 or 4 years. And it was not like I used them all that much even. But I have never had an EVF go bad if it is built into the camera and I have about ten of them. Cameras like my Canon M5, Sony NEX7, Olympus EM5II, etc. As an electrical/optical engineer, I can tell you having a lot of thin connectors is just problematic from a long term reliability standpoint.

I make a pretty good salary so I can just by something like an external EVF and figure if it breaks no big deal. As long as I got some good use out of it, that is fine. I like the one I got for my M6II. But not everyone has the luxury of being able to look at things that way.

With my M6II, I particular like that I can leave off the EVF, put on the 22 mm lens and it fits in my cargo shorts pockets so I can have a nice camera with me for some wide angle shots.
