I have commented that one of the reasons I switched to a Canon M50 Mark II body was to get better Eye-AF. Today, I put that to the test, and was very happy with the results. I was able to use my EF 50 mm f/1.8 STM at f/1.8 without worrying about focus, and could pay more attention to composition and other factors. I’m sure better photographers than I could do this with manual focus, but I’m learning to work within my limitations.

I also learned that one advantage of living in Mexico is the wide range of backgrounds available for portraits.

That, and that there are few things as gratifying as your daughter seeing her portrait on the monitor of your camera and immediately instructing you to send it to her phone.
