R7 Subject tracking questions

I've been a bit confused about how subject tracking works on my R7. Here are my observations, followed by a few questions:

  • When subject tracking is turned on, white frame looks for eyes. It has a single white border.
  • White frame seems to "lock" with a double line border if I press in the centre joystick, or select one of the eyes by hitting left or right on the joystick.
  • One shot mode focuses on what's in the white box. White box returns after focus acquired.
  • Servo mode does the same, except white box disappears after I take my finger off focus.

My questions are:

  1. Is there any way of keeping the white subject tracking box after I've used Servo AF?
  2. Is the subject tracking only "locked on" once it's got a double line border?
  3. Is there any difference in how subject tracking works if activated manually by a button (e.g. I've programmed it to M-Fn, as in the wild Alaska video), vs left on in the menu?

Please let me know if my observations or questions are unclear.
