If I post a photo from a 24 T/S people will say that's a sharp picture - which it will be.
But I use the lens in conjunction with other primes and zooms as - for example I use a Leica 24-90mm f/2.8-4 Vario-Elmarit-SL ASPH when I don't need to shift.
If you compare a photo from the T/S with Leica Zoom then you can see differences in quality - it's not stark - but there is a difference. It's not just the sharpness, I also find the T/S produces more saturated colours than other lenses and there is less micro contrast.
You could say that's an unfair comparison as they are different lens for different applications and I would accept that. I accept that you trade some performance for utility with tilt shifts.
I'm not criticising the lens, Its been fantastic, its paid for itself many times since I bought it. But it is 13 years old now and I was just wondering whether there is anything better out there. I looked at Schneider but from what I understand, for the money there is little increase in quality.
Thanks,
Paul
i don't remember you indicating whether it is TS 24 mk1 or mk2? there is a difference in optics and the wheels that move the lens to shift and tilt.
im talking about the MK2 version.
thanks

Leica SL2
Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH
