Re: Adapter, but not AF related.

Thanks all for responding.  While we were asleep Canon (tech) answered my question.  True, the ring close to the camera is NOT adjustable as to aperture....that was my initial question.

Since I shoot manually I was under the impression that any elect. contacts were not needed and I could adjust the aperture just like I did in the film days - not so.  I'm aware that there are adapters with contacts.....and that itself becomes a problem for some, since the "appropriate" contacts did not work - all one has to do is read some of the reviews.  In short, I'm trying to eliminate those issues from day one (if possible).

As stated, AF did not enter this plateau, but having appropriate contacts (one can hope) will allow me to adjust the aperture.

Initially I thought of Nikkor 180/2.8.  This lens will fit, no doubt, by using FTZ adapter and it WILL WORK.  Having the aperture adjustment I can use optics even from 45yrs ago+ (50mm F1.4 AIS or the famous 105mm F2.5+++).  Granted (it's visual), I might be off by 1/2-1 F-stop, which can be tweaked in the edit.....till I get totally proficient.  Anyway, I needed a lens that fits with my new 24-120S.....and considering Nikon future plan, I can't see the manuf come up with anything close to that focal length.....nor I wished to go the 70-200 route.....so the Canon 200mm became a bit of an obsession.  Bit convoluted, but there you have it.  Again thanks.
