Effective Use of 40Mpx sensor
1

By now almost everyone here knows the new  X-T5 will have a new 40Mpx sensor. So it is time to use cropping mode more often similar to cropping mode in Leica Q2 i.e. you get a 35mm image from a 28mm lens. In Leica, you can actually use this feature built-in the camera, whereas in X-T5 most likely the user has to crop it externally. I haven't used it in a Leica I assume this is how it works.

I just to confirm if this(below) is how you calculate the effective Mpx when you use the cropping feature.

Example:

Use an 18mm(27mm full frame) APSC prime lens. Then you crop to 23mm(about 35mm FF).

x= 23/18=1.278

effective MPx after cropping =  40/square(1.278) = approx. 24.5 Mpx. This is still a very respectable figure, similar to and X-T20 or X-T2.

Advantage: one can own less number of lenses, as well saving the trouble of changing them. Let me know if this is correct if not let me know how to calculate it the correct way.
