The Batis 2.8/135 is extremely good at the things you'd expect.  Portraits have crisp subject detail and creamy backgrounds.  It is also surprisingly good at things you might not typically use a 135 prime for.  The linear AF motor speed and weather sealing make this lens great for sports.  Its compact size (even with the hood on) makes it easy to carry.

135mm strikes the middle ground of the typical 70-200mm sports range so you're neither too tight nor to loose in most situations.  Cropping the images down to what a 200mm field of view would have been is no problem given the sharpness of the glass.  Typical Zeiss contrast and flare resistance gives excellent results even in harsh backlight.

Having built-in OIS (optical image stabilization) adds to the versatility of the lens. Low light work is already aided by the fast aperture and having OIS allows for even slower shutter speeds with sharp results.
