I'm having trouble understanding what this note means in Fuji's compatibility chart. I bought a Lexar Gold 128gb. Does it mean that I can't get 40fps or does it take longer for the buffer to clear?

*3 It makes shooting time longer for burst photos to use CFexpress cards marked “✔✔” comparing with the cards marked “✔” even if the both cards are same sizes.

you get the 40fps burst for a shorter period of time AND it takes longer for the buffer to clear

I interpret it the other way round 'longer' meaning more frames in a burst before the buffer fills.

What is slightly confusing is Lexar Gold sustained write is 'only' 1000MB/s compared to 40-50% more for Delkin Black and Prograde Cobalt.

I don't perceive much real-world difference between Lexar Gold and Angelbird SX (for stills), and the latter has a much higher sustained write speed.

I have a Delkin Black on back order, but don't expect to see any difference, for stills.

I think "It makes shooting time longer for burst photos to use CFexpress cards marked “✔✔” comparing with the cards marked “✔” even if the both cards are same sizes." means you get longer bursts with the faster cards before they slow down or stop.

But either way you can get 40fps with a slow card - you can get 40fps lossless compressed with an old slow UHS-I SD card - just not for long and it will take a while for the buffer to clear.
