Glad to see and read of the good SX220 results.  Great robin shot.

I have two SX260s... and they are gems. Great color rendition, good photo quality, and the digital 2x tele-converter works like a charm. Lots of praise and accolades for the camera in this forum.

GPS is an energy drain only if you have it on.

The main issue with the SX260 line was the E32 error (do a search here for details). It's supposed to be a lens error, but may be caused by a cable issue.

One of my two cameras developed it. It's strange because the camera will work superbly for about a minute before that error appears. It also happens even when just reviewing photos -- i.e., no lens extended. So, there's some glitch in the electronics unrelated to zoom extension.

I've been tempted to get another SX260 -- didn't want to mess with the &%*$ pop-up flash on start up of the 220s. Besides for my bird photography, the extra zooming is crucial.

I have an ELPH 330 -- an amazingly small powerhouse of a camera. It's 10x zoom optical, with the same 2x converter. But it lacks full manual controls. But it's a treat as a plop into one's pocket for walks. Of course, it's best to use a small camera case -- and, at that point, the SX260 works even better.

I picked up a Canon SX720 from Canon's refurbished store for only $117. I'd buy another of those in a heartbeat if their prices ever got that low again! 40x zoom with excellent photo quality.
