Indoor low light strategies - kids

Hello all,

I have been a silent observer for about a year. I have learned much from your lively discussions. This is a unique community.

We will be welcoming our first child in a couple weeks, and I was hoping for advice on how to best combat poor lighting indoors? I know using a fast aperture will keep ISO down, but I am concerned this will result in too thin a DOF for images with my spouse and family. Some options I'm considering, in order of most effective + lowest cost: external flash, better editing software, faster glass, or different camera body.

I have an M6 Mk1, 18-150mm, and 22mm. I shoot in RAW and edit with Photoshop Elements 2021.

What will provide the best results with a reasonable budget?

Many thanks,

Miles
