With the new generation of Expeed processor + new autofocus algorithm, the upcoming XT5 should be able to show a much faster autofocus than previous XTs.

Very few Sonys and Canons are equiped with stacked sensors and they exhibit top-notch autofocus….

There’s a difference between decent tracking and the level of tracking included with their stacked sensors based bodies.
The Canon R5 and R3 are stacked, the Sony A9, A9 II, and A1 are all stacked as well. The AF has 3.5x the speed in those bodies, over their un stacked enthusiast designs. Speed itself isn’t enough, but it certainly allows you to make up for some mistakes.

If you look for A9 vs A3 on YouTube, you will somebody explaining the advantages of the sensor.

Neither canons are stacked, the only cameras with stacked sensor are:

Sony A1, A9, A9ii, RX10iv, RX100vii, RX100vi, ZV1 and RX0ii

olympus OM-1

Nikon Z9

The Canon R3 has a stacked sensor. The Sony ZV1 is not stacked, or it would have been extremely cheap for a stacked APS-C sensor!

My understanding is the R3 focuses better and faster than the R5, but it is hard to know if that is a generational issue, or the stacked sensor.
