Are you saying they no longer have EV Comp? That would be the stupidest decision ever.
Sorry if it reads like that, I also see while rereading my OP that I made a mistake "and that is now your exposure dial.." should have said Exposure Comp dial.
But to clarify you still have Exposure Comp, but not with a dedicated dial. And I guess in fujifilms own default there is no Exposure Comp for all manual/auto ISO... which seams like a bit of a mistake..
This is exactly the same UI as on the XH1. There was no dedicated EC dial. There is a button that can be programmed to be held down with turning the read wheel for EC. The button can also be programmed to be an on/off switch so when it is on - turning the real wheel will change EC and when turned off the EC is locked. No different here.
Explanation of Fujifilms default:
M = no ExpoComp
No need for EC I'm full manual
There is the M+ auto ISO mode which is probably the whole reason for the negative impression of the UI in regards to EC.
A = Front Command is ExpoComp
That's a change from the XH1. Can it be reprogrammed to the rear?
I messed up. It's likely like the X-H1.. sorry for the confusion.
No problem. I expect they kept the same as the X-H1. I was disappointed when Fuji replace the EC dial with the second LCD display on the XH1. The press and hold a button while spinning a wheel didn't seem all that intuitive to me especially when one had to more the finger that would go on the shutter. The fact it could be reprogrammed as an on/off switch was good. On the other hand the back wheel if accidentally nudged would change the EC accidentally when it was on. With the camera to the eye on my Pro3 - it is difficult to accident spin it. With my Leica Q2 the EC dial is quite still and one does not change that accidentally.
I prefer the EC dial on my Pro3 which I expect is more or less the same on the XT3 and XT4. But my wife has not problem with the XH1 layout. I expect it is because I spent years staring into a waste level finder or the ground glass on my 4x5 or the rangefinder on my M4 where there was no information in the VF instead of the image. Hell the image in my RB67 was right side up but mirror imaged side to side. The image on my ground glass of my 4x5 was mirror imaged both top to bottom and side to side.
She was green and had no problem expecting information to be presented to her in the VF whereas I viewed it as bloody worthless clutter and didn't often pay much attention to it. Of course I could have noticed the EC value in the LCD display on the top of the XH1 - but as you say it takes awhile for one to "get on" as my friends from across the big pond ( who have such quaint phrases ) would say. My wife stole my XH1 before I could really get comfortable and develop the necessary muscle memory needed.
S = Thumb Command is ExpoComp
P = I dont know, Thumb I guess
First of all, all of that is wrong in my book, I changed it to be front dial for ExpoComp in all modes since I will always use the aperture ring for... aperture. so that dial will be free to be ExpoComp always.
