Did you ever try using electronic shutter with pre-shot? And what's the reason you do not find this good enough for the photos you make?

While Morris will speak for himself, the XTrans IV generation is a fairly slow read out chip. It is five year old technology.  With action and particularly some types of images and birds wings would be a prime candidate - the rolling shutter of the ES would be a significant issue.

Nikon thinks they have it solved and as dumped the mechanical shutter totally.  We will see.  I don't know the read out time of the XH2S stacked sensor vs. the sensor in the Z9 but the XTrans 5 stacked sensor is probably comparable to the Z9 sensor as they both come from the same generation Sony process.

So the ES in the XH2S should be much more usable than the ES in the XT3.  However, that needs to be verified.
