For decades the sports market has been dominated by Canon (by far) and then Nikon. It took about 10 years for Sony to mingle in between them, and then it must have cost them an arm and a leg. Sony had to put all their muscle and leverage and money to make some headway with a sports camera and lens stable.

Quite simply, I think the X system, which is 10 years old, is not competing in the sports market. There are other areas where a fast pro APSC camera like the XH2S can shine, like wildlife action. For the pros, there are simply better systems for sports out there. Fuji could still make a 400 f/4 or 500 f/4 in the future, but I doubt it.

Hi Palo,

Excellent observation! Most of the time, a sports photographer can role their gear into a venue. A wildlife photographer usually hast to carry their gear across all sorts of terrain.  This make weight much more important to the wildlife photographer.
