Cutting Prints to Size

I make things like this

Example Installation

I made this from 5 8x8 inch cards,  one of which had the QR code and was cut down rather messily with scissors.

Current installations use cards that I buy from the store and put through the printer twice (for front and back) and do no further processing,  except that I cut down the QR codes.

I need a better way to cut those QR codes and also the future constellations I want to make will need to use arbitrary shaped rectangular cards.  I don't see starting with a card that is much larger than 8.5x11 or cutting down to less than 2x2 inch.

I am at a loss.  I'm looking for any kind of answer ranging from a better way of using scissors some kids learn in second-grade art class,  some better tool,  or something like the Cricut machine.  (For the record I think the work the Cricut machine does isn't good enough
