And because the AF was so good (and the lens so sharp) I was able to use it in low light, both indoors and at night, shooting some of the toughest action sports around (like B-ball, gymnastics, nighttime bike racing, etc). Heck between you and me, I experience AF hit rates (with the lens wide open, using Spot AF on my M6ii) that exceed what I get with the vaunted R5/R6 and a bag full of $3000 lenses! That’s the gods honest truth.
Wowsers!!!
Yessir. My AF hit rate (with the M6ii) shooting the same sports in the same conditions, is substantially higher with the M6ii in Spot AF mode than when I'm using the R5/R6 with Subject Detect AF. However the big FF bodies do have their own compensations of course!
Long live the 32 f1.4 on m6II and spot for old timers not seeking all that continuous eye detection stuff!!!
Yep, (for fast action) it still pays to do the tracking the old fashioned way!
See why so many here are so high on this lens?!
and I can see why Canon might not make it for the R7
I know. That's definitely an unhappy thought!!
I bought the m6II specifically for this lens, one of the best lenses I've ever owned
Yep, I keep thanking my lucky stars for the M6ii and this combo specifically!
instead of wanting a RF 50 f1.2, I'll take a sharp across the frame F2.2 equivalent focal length that gets both eyes in focus -- that hits focus the old fashion way - at a fraction of the price - forever lens for me
Right-O. I had to spend over threee grand to get that kind of performance for my R5/R6.
In low light, the FF IQ really does stretch out its lead tho.
