Rainbow settings

Sounds like a weird question to ask-- but what are good settings to take pictures of a rainbow? It was in and out of clouds so I was trying to figure out what to focus on. In the end I choose to focus on a distant tree (about 250 feet away). I couldn't focus on the rainbow itself or the clouds-- the camera wouldn't lock focus. So I just focused on the most distant object I could see, which happened to be that tree. I used manual exposure mode and AUTO ISO (spot metering.) It was close to sunset (sunset here is at 8:30 and the rainbow was at its brightest about 10 minutes before that.)  I saw it for around 30 minutes.

Haven't had time to upload the images yet. I shot raw + super fine JPG vivid mode +2, +2, +2.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.
