Hi all,

Experienced photographer (but a video newbie) wishing to start playing around with video using M50 Mkii and my trusted EF-M 55-200. Mainly watersports like kitesurfing, windsurfing from the shore. Can I get away with a sturdy Monopod or best to use tripod (I have a Manfrotto 190 Pro). As this opportunity is overseas, I am conscious of size, bulk, weight etc for the airplane.

What have your experiences been?

A monopod should work fine for your intended use, and would be better than a typical photo tripod.  Ballheads are miserable for video use.  If your monopod has a ballhead, plan on locking it out.  Dedicated video fluid heads and tripods would be better, but probably too big and bulky for your needs.
