My TG6 side door has broken since last summer and service in my country seems to be quite slow and possibly also expensive. I am thinking of various options:
1) Get a new/used TG6 ... cost~ 400E
2) Get an underwater housing for my RX100VI. Sensor is larger but underwater focal length will be less wide since with the TG6 I was also using the wide extender allowing me to create more interesting shots (in my eyes )
3) Get an underwater bag for one of my ILC cameras. Not too fond of that solution as I am afraid of water leakage, but maybe able to use the EP7 with a wide lens..
Camera use is mainly for snorkeling, here are some samples:

What do you think?
I cannot believe that the door is very expensive if you can find it. Most doors are pretty easy to fit. Just guessing but all may not be lost with your current camera. Alternatively you could look for a 'parts only' TG6 on ebay (there is one there right now) which would be more expensive but much cheaper than the new camera alternatives.
Good luck

What worries me more is that Olympus service support seems to be currently non existent where I live! I have called several times and nobody seems to be picking up the phone!
I checked the solution you mention but not sure how I will assemble the new door back into the body...
