parabolic myth or magic

This had me thinking as i studied telecommunications as a youth many years ago and designed /made radio antennas. The fact is id never seen a parabolic dish antennae the shape of the studio light reflectors (called parabolic) used in any radio application. This got me thinking and this article confirms that parabolic really has little to do with shape at all as you can change the shape providing your focus point is also changed and aligned so the idea that you can change the focus point or strobe position with out changing the shape does nothing at all for the quality/efficiency of light that is so highly discussed on this forum.
