Are you ejecting cards from your PC w/o un-mounting first?

The Delkin CF reader doesn't have the eject option.

If you use a PC, make sure to unmount media before ripping the card out.

Are you using your cards for general storage (i.e. as a library)?

Nops. for the Z9 only

Are you formatting in camera or on your PC?

Was formatted in the Z9 and used it for months with no issue.

You've been shooting for months w/o formatting and are constantly deleting and adding new photos?

Yes.
I’m not aware of a way to unmount it on a pc. I will double check though. I did not know I have to format the card before each session. Is it necessary? And why?

You dont have to format each time but I format every time I offload images via the reader once I put it back in my camera to clear the card. Formatting each time ensures there is no corruption on the card. My backup settings are always kept on the backup card so I have it with me all the time and don't have to worry about accidentally erasing the file.
