My impression is quite the opposite: the autofocus system of R3 beats all others cameras that I have every used, including the Canon R5. The R3 can achieve some crazy things, like picking up fast-moving birds in the sky long after sunset. Never seen anything like this before. That said, I have limited experience from 1D.

I have only used R3 for wildlife, and it should be noted that eye control is not very meaningful in the super tele world. I tried it and it seems to work, but there is no use for it when the slightest twist of a long tele lens moves to the focus point to wherever you like it to be. Therefore, I would not know anything about point 5.

Issues 2-4 I have not came across at all. Issue 1 happens only with big lenses, especially 600mm f4. If the foreground or background is completely blurred out, to the degree that that there is basically no signal for the autofocus to pick up. I don't see it as a big problem though since the focus preset switch on the lens can immediately move focus back/forth, and I can do the same job in half a second with the manual focus ring.

With back-button focus, I would never experience the issue of the shutter not going off. Shutter and focus are very different things to me and must always be on different buttons.
