Just cancelled my preorder too but for the R10. Reason being I downloaded the Raw samples for the R10 and 7 from this site and worked with them in both Lightroom and Canons DPP and the images looked kind of soft like there was under the hood noise reduction going on. Mind you I hate to say this but I also was not too convinced of the competance of the person who shot the images which left me doubtful about the cause of the issues .
Was it camera, lenses or operator who knows ? Upshot is I'm holding off for at least a few months to see how this unfolds and maybe also gain some insight into the future direction of both the M and RF S systems.
at the time, I thought you were pulling a trigger too quickly - it doesn't have the glass nor the 32.5 mpxl sensor
the R7 with the 32.5 mpxl sensor might make sense for birders and sports shooters with L glass needing reach -- but without enough quality RF-s glass available, M6II still is a better solution
glass matters
The R7 is overkill for me. I’m not a birder but if the RF S 18-150 is turns out to be as good or better that my copy of EF M equivalent then that would take care of anything I throw at it . Not much choice RF S lens wise at the moment though so another reason to hold off I guess.
*for me*, the 32.5 mpxl sensor in the m6II has mattered with great glass like the m32 f1.4 and 11-22
other great lenses like the 56 and 16 can take advantage of their resolving power on this very demanding sensor
dxo PL5 gives close to FF powers to the 32.5 mpxl sensor
I admit I'm a pixel peeper, but I also do significant cropping of photos, and this is where the 32.5 mpxl sensor and dxo PL5 deep prime play significant roles in IQ - along with my great m glass, 32 and 11-22
