That is correct.

The 2 STM versions are very similar, and, apart from the aperture difference you noted, the same. But with one difference.

The f/4-5.6 version is a fair bit smaller than the f/3.5-5.6 version.

EDIT: The f/4 version is 4 years newer, and officially the newest and current one.

I haven't used haven't used the f/3.5-5.6 version.  I can say the f/4.0-5.6 version is very small, lightweight, tack sharp and delivers very good IQ overall.  It punches way above its price point.
