A new thread just for this ?
I think the fact that it’s just the M6II that’s biting the dust is getting lost; likewise there is a larger data gap now. So yes.
Firing up an R thread on target audiences of the R7/10 in the R forum momentarily… Again, folks and data loss going on here.
There was already other threads covering exactly the same theme. What makes you so special?
I’m not. Apologies, I don’t read all the treads here.
I would be worried if you did.
And the ones I have are all “the M is dead”. I think it’s just the M6 II that “needed” to die. I don’t think it needed to, but Canon did as it usurps the R10, and is smaller and cheaper.
The RP competes against the R10 with an adequate lens line up, so the RP is save.
The M50II competes with the R10 with a very nice lens line up, the same Mp count and a lower price. If the R10 is going to win that competition I would argue the M6II isn't murdered to protect the R7, but for the available capacity in sensor fabs, as the M6II has a fight being at least as tough as the M50II.
Like, of course, I don’t think Canon likes competing, and especially not with themselves.
Canon doesn't like competing. That's a very comprehensive description of the soul of this company.
I think the M will stay alive for a while on life support much as DSLRs still are to a degree. Hopefully we get an M50 III out of it.
Grab an M6II before it's sold out. It's a steal. 32Mp and great DR and awesome compact prime lenses. It's a bargain.
I did man, I dunno if you’ve read my posts. I went “all in”.
I noticed, and that's what a lot of customers considering the R10 actually should do.
Well if you’re a vlogger with more money than an M50, maybe. But the maybe can easily mean RP, R, M6II itself… You get the point.
I think the R10 like the RP is a camera that’s MSRP isn’t the true MSRP. It’ll drop to $699 USD by Xmas. Seriously. That doesn’t fix its lack of glass though.
Canon needs to do more to woo me over; R10 form factor and IBIS or 32MP, or both aka R7 sensor. Then we can talk when say an RF-S 55-250, RF-S 16-55 f/2.8 and RF-S 10-18 also exist. That’s historically 2-3 years for that kinda glass to roll out. Tack on say another 8 months for backlog fulfillment too when they launch. Call it 4 years… My M6II and M glass should live that long.
I’m digging my heals in so to speak and will weather the RF-S storm till it passes and a R50 exists with appropriate glass. That’ll be a minute. 😉
