Please explain what you mean by "short distance".

When I look at photos from my X-E1 on a 22" monitor with WXGA resolution and 100% zoom, I see a section of a photo on the monitor that is about the size of a room door. I then sit 0.5 meters in front of the monitor and consider whether the photo is sharp or not.

If I look at the same photo on my 4.5K iMac, the photo is about 60...80 centimeters wide at 100%. I'm still sitting 0.5 meters in front of the monitor and now realize that the photo is extremely sharp.

Conclusion: the statements are very subjective. And they say little.

For photography, the resolution of the human eye and viewing the entire photo at a glance is still used as a standard.

On this basis, the term "depth of field" was derived many, many decades ago.
