So many new mirror-less camera body releases since the original EOS R, but I haven't heard much when (or if) a direct successor is coming.

I don't want/need a pro body, and I don't want a crop sensor. Does Canon expect us to upgrade to the R5/R6?

For the most part, I'm mostly fine with the R, but it's auto-focus system is definitely looking quite dated.

I'm basically looking for the same R body + updated focusing system (that every other newer R-body camera seems to have), and a faster sensor readout fo a more useable silent/electronic shutter (without the banding/stretching artifacts). Everything else can pretty much stay the same.

i'm dreadfully sorry to grief you, but yes, the "successor" to the r was the r5,

R $2,299 Sept 2018

R5 $3,899 July 2020

The the R was replaced within two years and by a body with an MSRP that was $1,600 higher?  Canon doesn't replace any FF body in less than 4 years and at a price point so far off.

take it or leave it, the r was a camera that didn't hold a place in canon's lineup (thus wasn't numbered),

Um, that's not really true.  It was a first, but that doesn't imply it holds no place because it didn't have a number.

it was a testbed for creating a proper mirrorless system, skipping nikon-like flops, they merely took 5d iv tech and reorganized it in the most daring way they possibly could allow themselves to, shipped out the thing, and waited to see what happens, what they learned from this "experiment"

Any first has an element of experimentation, but what makes you think that this isn't simply where the 5DIV equivalent is going to live in the R lineup?  I've seen no statement from Canon that supports this claim.

brought about the r5/r6, which were,

You missed the RP.  The RP came out next and for less money.  Why would they create two bodies below $2,500 and then abandon those price points?  That's not really how Canon roles.

are, and i suppose will be for quite a while, some of the most well rounded, well planned out bodies around, once they were released, the r5 filled the 5d series position

And yet a near perfect recreation of the 5DIV though smaller and cheaper was upgraded in a completely uncharacteristic way for Canon.  This means you must think that they won't have any more sub-$2,500 bodies.

(as the number implies),

Canon mixes up numbers all the time.  They're kind of infamous for it.  What about the R6?  Where's that?  It's way above a 6DII price point and spec.  R3?

thus replacing the r, which is essentially a mirrorless 5d iv, and the r6 replaced the 6d series respectively,

I mean, that's extremely unlikely.  The R6 has fewer pixels than the RP/6DII.  Canon doesn't upgrade like that.

though far higher-end, as that is the nature of mirrorless and the current market.

that is not to say the r isn't a good camera, it is, as is the 5d iv, and especially for the bargain price they can be found at now.

i am suspecting the r1 "flagship" thing might just knock the whole range's pricing a notch down, as a 7k$+ body will need to be something out of this world to compete with the 6k$ a1 and the 5.5k$ z9, but i wouldn't count on it.

your request list sounds a bit like a r5 mk ii at sub 2k$,

Again, that's not how Canon upgrades things.  They don't drop $1,800 on an a Mark II body.

that's not happening any time soon if that's your concern...

Never.

i personally am hoping for something to be a "ff rp successor", and i think that's a little more likely to happen.

Why would that be more likely?  It has no number, so your logic says it will be abandoned.  It's cheaper than even the R.  Your conclusions are inconsistent.
