Sure there will. That segment is a perfect middle ground.

If you want a FF, 30+ Mpix, no IBIS, x0D build level, priced lower than R6, then forget about it.
Why lower than the R6? The R6 is low resolution version of what the R Mark II should be.
The original R was meant to be a demo to showcase Canon's new RF mount
I'd love to see one press release or statement from Canon that even hints at that. Link please.
and especially the insanely fast 28-70 F2, 50 & 85 F1.2 lens. Its purpose is to stop users from switching to Sony.
That doesn't imply that it is unworthy of a successor.
With a recycled sensor from the 5Dmk4,
Why do people say "recycled"? Canon uses the same sensor on multiple bodies at multiple price points.....for multiple years. Using the 5DIV on a second body was a stroke of GENIUS because it's a GREAT sensor.
it got to the market fast enough. It bought Canon time to develop the R5 & R6
Which are totally different segments than the R.
with IBIS & a new DigicX processor chip for fast readout. It did its job. There is no need for Canon to do this again.
After releasing the crop body R7 & R10, there may be a RP replacement as the bottom FF.
Funny that the 6D Mark II version in an RF mount WOULD be worthy of refresh but an R wouldn't. That makes no sense to me.
So, you can get the more expensive but less MPixel R6, or wait for an RP replacement which may or may not come.
Oh, the entry level won't be ignored. Maybe the RP Mark II will have the R sensor, and the R Mark II will have a new 35MP stacked sensor.
