Re: Battery health check in camera?

I don't think anybody mentioned this, apologies if I am repeating an already discussed idea.

I set the camera to go to sleep after 1 minute or so, also assign one of the buttons to put the camera to sleep. I never turn off the camera if I am likely to use it soon, such as when hiking. Sometimes even forget to turn it off for a day or two. It does not use much battery while on the sleep mode.

I always get more than 1000 shots. If I do burst or use ES then more like 2000. These are with cheap third party batteries, I am sure original batteries will do even better. Both EVF and LCD drain the battery quickly, so I dim the LCD a bit. Turning "continuous autofocus" off also helps (not servo AF). Otherwise the camera keeps running the focus motors.

The idea is to use the LCD/EVF, focus motors and the processing power of the camera only when taking shots, and let it sleep at all other times. I treat it like a laptop computer.
