There are plenty of very trustworthy ambassadors out there - but as you rightly say, you have to do your homework.

It's one thing being a good promotor, but without the credentials to back it up the exercise is pointless. The opinions I trust are usually those of working photographers who actually use the equipment in their business long term, rather than merely reviewing it (but don't dismiss the value of a good, evidence based review). There are impartial reviewers out there, but they don't become brand ambassadors because they are as far from an 'exclusive user' as it gets.
