if they make RF-s glass on par with EF-s glass - I'm out.

I think you’re in luck, because it looks like they’re porting over the EF-M lenses (just with new RF bases).

they look like they are cheapening the discontinued 55-250 stm to make it darker than f5.6

I'll believe an RF-s 32 when I see it

If they give us M quality glass - I'll buy R7 because it would be the m5III I always wanted with m quality glass

Don’t know how many of those lenses they’ll give us though. Depends on how much they want to protect their higher end sales (we EF-M owners certainly know how Canon likes to maintain product line segmentation!! ).

We’ll have to see. Canon already has the very nice RF 35.

As far as bodies go, the R7 will definitely be more capable than the M6ii, but it’s also in an entirely different size class. I plan to “permanently” mount my RF 100mm Macro to it (it should be a perfect fit for that ).

my m32 is almost permanently mounted on my m6II

Yep, the M6ii is my jack of all trades!

I'll be interested to see how your 100-500 performs on R7 - that is the setup I'd expect to pay dividends

I expect to try out the 100-500 on the R7 just to see how the combo does, but for my own shooting (for wildlife) the R5 is the much preferred body.

keep an open mind on getting closer with the r7

Too many limitations with the R7 (vs R5). I'll leave it at that so as not to get OT in this thread/forum.

an R3 focus system and more pixels on the subject and good fps sounds like it is worth remaining open

I’m pretty darn excited about 30 fps macros on the R7 though!

Best of luck with your own quest!

I don't hold my breath - speed of AF is for sports and wildlife which would be nice, but I'm more about still life these days and don't want to spend the big bucks on tele L's

Personally I don’t see you needing anything beyond the M6ii at this point then… unless you just gotta have that IBIS.

I wanted IBIS for the 56 f1.4 -- but we'll not get that one either

For what I shoot (with the R5 and R6), IMHO IBIS is one of those things that many folks wish to have, and then when they finally do get it, it turns out to Not be the cornucopia that they thought it would be.

I still prefer the benefits of good OIS or higher shutter speeds (with good technique) to increase my keeper rates (esp with the advent of DxO's PL5). I do admit I shoot a lot of people, events, sports, and birds however! So YMMV.

I understand what you are saying, but the lack of IBIS prevented me from buying that 56 f1.4 because over the years I need to drag my shutter down to ss 1/60 and 1/80

so the RF 85 F2 was the logical lens for me
