You have probably the JJC LH-RF35F18 lenshood. It's better and does protect a lot better.

I have bought one for the RF50. I take it off to store anyway.

no need to take the hood off...just reverse it onto the lens.

Yes, that is what I mean. You have to take it off to do that.
