Great Response

If you need convincing that you need it - you don't need it.

As I wrote above I bought the lens when I purchased my R5. I have some knee jerk reaction to having a 50mm in my bag. But after a year I realized it was a bad purchase. I had not had the lens in my travel kit for most of the time. I have read a lot of posts by the OP and we have pretty similar shooting styles and prefer zooms over primes. My response to the OP was based on his pervious comments and not as a general comment to everyone. I personally would save the money for a lens you would use a lot. Sure the 50mm f1.8 is not expensive, but what is the point if you don't use the lens.

Personally I wish this thread was around 14 months ago, would have saved me about $90, what I lost after selling the lens. For those who do shoot with primes the lens might be nice in the kit, but I think the non L RF 35 and 85 are better for your prime based kits.
