For a while, I planned to get the the RF 50/1.8 stm. lately however, I’m leaning away from it. Against it is some sub par reviews, mushiness away from center, and it not being a zoom*. For it are cost and aperture **. So talk me into or out of it…

*Been shooting primarily primes on Fuji for the last decade. Being in a wheel chair while shooting, I’ve found zooms much more convenient. I currently have the RF 24-105L & RF 100-400.

**It’s hard to beat $200 but if I never use it then it’s still a waste. However, having nothing less than f4 is new to me.

This is what so exciites me about R7, the 35 1.8 macro STM is a very good lens and on the R7 we have a 56mm 1.8 macro with dual is. The 50 STM wasn't massively impressive on the R5 imo. Plus the 16 2.8 cuts out the pretty average corners too for what makes a very cool 25.5mm wide prime or 29mm prime in 4:3 ratio. After years shooting m43 I always wanted to replicate the Panasonic 14 and 15 focal lengths now I can in one lens! Seriously, the 16 2.8/35 1.8 and 85.2 make real sense on the R7, sensible resolution, sensible size and excellent ibis I'm sure. I'll probably go for tge ef-s 50 1.4 for 80-85mm as its fast usm and again its corners are no longer soft lol👍
