Winged green aphid

Well, I know that isn't a very high rez picture, but somehow I like it all the same. It shows a tiny green aphid, sitting on and sucking the plant juice out of a rose bush. It's an uncropped frame showing approx. 6mm real width, so the aphids' body is only about 3 mms wide:

To photograph such a small and living insect hand held (I could see it moving and working through my viewfinder) is quite fascinating, I have to say.

Setup was a 60mm macro lens at f16 (for maximum DOF) combined with a 16mm extension tube and a 2x tele converter on an Olympus E-M1 II;  a single low powered (to avoid too much reflection) flash was used from the left; the ISO of 4000 and of course the heavy diffraction at f16 ate most of the possible resolution. PP with Lightroom, Topaz DeNoise and Topaz Sharpen. I know I have to work on the light setup to be able to use lower ISOs, but even so this produced an almost usable result IMO.

Phil
