I'm thinking of moving from the A7SIII to the A7VI, as I typically don't shoot high frame rate video and I would prefer the higher megapixels for stills. However, the rolling shutter values between the two cameras are significant (~8ms vs. ~26ms). Although I can find plenty of examples of how awful this is when shooting spinning propellers and doing nausea-inducing whip pans of vertical posts, I wonder if anyone knows whether the sensor readout speed differences cause issues in more common shooting techniques, e.g., slow pans and normal movement (car driving by -- but not closeup with perpendicular camera placement -- or a person running)? Also, are there any web resources on this topic with more subtle examples? I don't shoot handheld, but will at times use a gimbal, so both the camera and subject could be moving. Would the rolling shutter of the A7IV cause issues in such a case?

When panning it becomes an issue. If you pan fast enough there’s kinda a lower expectation for seeing detail so it matters less but during slow pans you can see a noticeable drop in detail. Like was already said it gives stabilization software a hard time as well
