Swim Meet, Batch 1

For my volunteer duty for my daughter's swim club, I do photography, instead of being a timer or other official.

Here are some pix I shot during the last meet.

The lens was a rented Sigma 70-200/2.8. I locked the shutter speed to 1/250, the aperture to f/2.8 and let the ISO float around. The tough thing was trying to get every kid on my team such that they are recognizable.

I'm a little proud of the fact that I didn't shoot any bursts. Culling and editing the 500 photos was enough work already, considering I wasn't paid. It's very satisfying, though, to use my hobby for something unselfish.

1. Backstroke

2) Freestyle

3) This poor kid's goggles weren't tight enough to withstand the dive.

5) I can't tell if her goggles were fogged or have a fancy eyeball hologram.

6) She had just won 2nd in her heat. It's nice to get a candid smile sometimes, instead of just a game face all the time.

7) A launch

8) Belly flop

9) I liked the side lighting on this one

10) My daughter was ready to go, but I still had to work another 40 minutes.
