Personally, for what I do with mine, I should have bought the f/4.0. Canon has long made a trio of L zooms, the 16-35, the 24-70 and the 70-200, all available in f/4 and f/2.8.   I have all three, in f/2.8. People said the f/2.8 versions had better image quality. But I use the f/2.8 of the 24-70 and with the 70-200, but I don’t really need it with the 16-35.

At the same time… since I had a 24-70, maybe a 16mm prime would have been a better choice anyway.
